History

June 1967 Fisheries Laboratory established in the Faculty of Fisheries.
April 1970 Graduate School of Fisheries Science established.
April 1974 Three specialized fields of fisheries science are combined and renamed the Department of Fisheries Science.
April 1987 Established the Department of Marine Production and Development in the Graduate School of Engineering.
April 1988 Graduate School of Marine Production Science (doctoral course) established.
April 1988 The Department of Marine Production and Development was transferred to the Graduate School of Marine Production Science.
April 1988 Department of Marine Resources Studies established.
April 1997 Marine Resources Education and Research Center established in the Faculty of Fisheries (Fisheries Experiment Station abolished).
April 2000 Graduate School of Production Science (doctoral course) established.
April 2001 Reorganized the Department of Marine Production and Development and the Department of Marine Resources Studies into the Department of Marine Production Science and the Department of Materials Science, Graduate School of Production Science.
April 2002 (Heisei 14) Graduate School of Environmental Sciences established.
April 2004 Under the National University Act (Act No. 112 of 2003), the National University Corporation Nagasaki University was established .
April 2004 Two departments for Environmental Sciences were established in Master's Course and Department of Environmental Science (Doctoral Course) was established in the Graduate School of Production Science.
April 2005 Institute for East China Sea Research established (Marine Resources Education and Research Center attached to the Faculty of Fisheries abolished)
February 2006 Graduate School of Marine Production Science abolished.
March 2007 Graduate School of Environmental Sciences abolished.
April 2011 Reorganization of the Graduate School of Production Sciences to establish the Graduate School of Engineering and the Graduate School of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences.
April 2011 Reorganized the Institute for East China Sea Research and established the Institute for East China Sea Research attached to the Graduate School of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences.
April, 2016 Institute for East China Sea Research transferred to the Organization for Marine Science and Technology.
